Hi Reader,

Welcome to the Otterpine newsletter!

We wanted to share some of what we've been loving lately. From cute otter happenings, books we love, industry news, confidence-boosting blog posts, events we're excited about, and much more...here's a little peek into our corner of the world.

If you're in Asheville, NC (hey, neighbor!) we've added some local spotlights and events, too.

As always, if you have any questions about our books, our authors, or anything else indie-publishing related, please hit reply on this email and ask. We're real humans on the other side of the screen, and we reply to every email (even if it takes us a little while).

Also let us know if you want us to do this more often. We're thinking about it! Happy reading!

  1. Otterpine authors, Adam Levy and Ethan Sherman will be in Asheville next week, and they're putting on a free concert at Lipinsky Auditorium at UNCA on Saturday, Sep 21 at 3p and they're hosting a masterclass too. Adam & Ethan are both world-renowned guitarists and we guarantee that this concert will be amazing. Check out their amazing book, String Theories: Tips, Challenges, and Reflections for the Lifelong Guitarist while you're at it!
  2. Did you know that writing has the potential to ease our anxiety, sharpen our focus, and even heal our bodies? Writing is more than just a hobby or profession, it’s self-care! This article shares how to write in different ways to help you cope with stress or boost your confidence.

  4. We’re proud to be a women-owned and operated small business, especially in the world of publishing. In this industry, women are still underrepresented in the top leadership positions. That’s why we love this article from Publisher’s Weekly that highlights some prominent women in publishing!
  5. Need a pick-me-up? Here’s how to lift yourself up when your inner critic creeps in, from one of our authors and favorite humans, Ali Schultz, who recently released her fantastic book, The Art of Being Human at Work
